Head and CIO of Global & US Large Cap Equities, Schroders
Alex oversees the global team in London, as well as the US Large-Cap team in New York.
Before his appointment at Schroders in 2014, he was senior vice president and senior portfolio manager at American Century Investments and the lead manager of the American Century International Growth Fund (TWIEX). He also co-managed the global and international team based in New York.
Prior to 2006, Alex was the managing director at Deutsche Asset Management, lead manager of the Morgan Grenfell International select equity strategy, and co-managed various global and international portfolios. He also worked in the UK as a European economist and financial analyst, and served as Sanlam Investments’ representative in Frankfurt.
Alex holds an MA in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Freiburg in Switzerland.

Managing Director, Glacier International
Andrew Brotchie was appointed as managing director of Glacier International on 1 January 2015, prior to which he was head of product and investments with Glacier International from March 2011.
Before joining Glacier International, Andrew spent more than 10 years working in the international investment arena (in South Africa, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan), in the areas of business development, product and investments, and managing an investment advisory firm.
He has a BA (Honours) in History and Politics and an MBA in International Management, both from the University of Exeter in the UK.
Senior Research and Investment Analyst, Glacier by Sanlam
Francis started his career at Sanlam Employee Benefits as a fund accountant and later as a review manager. He then spent four years as the operations and research manager at Nostic Asset Management (Category 2 Discretionary FSP). Francis joined the Glacier research team in March 2015 as a Senior research and investment analyst.
Francis is a CFA charterholder and holds a BCom (Hons) degree in Financial Analysis from the University of Stellenbosch.
Partner and Chief of Investment Staff, Baillie Gifford
Iain joined Baillie Gifford in 1994. After spells in the UK and North American equity teams, Iain moved back to the UK equity team in 1999 where he currently manages their UK core strategy. He is also the co-lead manager on Baillie Gifford’s flagship Managed Fund, where he has been involved for 17 of the fund’s 31-year history. His knowledge and experience as a stock picker provide valuable input into their Pan European and global select equity strategies. Iain was made a partner of the firm in 2005 and became chief of investment staff in 2013.
Iain is a member of the firm’s investment management group which manages the investment floor at Baillie Gifford. In the past, he has also served on the firm’s management committee (the firm’s equivalent of the board of directors), group risk committee and set up and initially chaired the investment risk committee.
Iain graduated with an MA (Hons) in Accountancy from Aberdeen University and is a chartered accountant.
Vice President, Dodge & Cox
Kevin joined Dodge & Cox in 1989 and is the vice president and a shareholder.
Kevin holds a BA degree from Harvard College and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is a CFA charterholder.
He worked as a securities analyst with Fred Alger Management for three years prior to entering graduate school.
Glacier by Sanlam
Leigh joined Glacier in 2003 after completing his BCom undergraduate degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Cape Town. He later qualified with a BCom (Hons) in Economics from UNISA. He was previously the head of the Investment Administration team at Glacier before taking up the role as head of Glacier Research in 2012.
Leigh completed his MBA (Cum Laude) through the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB) in 2017.
Head of Research, Investec Asset Management
Rob is the head of research for the Quality team and is responsible for design and implementation of the research process.
Prior to this, he was the head of the industrial, consumer and technology sector in Investec’s Frontier & Emerging Markets team, a position he assumed in 2003. Rob was previously a sector equity portfolio manager, whose responsibilities included the Momentum Industrial Fund (Unit Trust) and a building block of the SYmmETRY range called the Old Mutual Industrial and Consumer Fund. In addition, Rob managed the Investec Growth Fund unit trust for two years to 2001 and the Investec Global Consumer Fund for close to two years, after its launch in 1996. Rob joined Investec Asset Management in 1995 as an investment analyst. He has spent more than 15 years analysing global consumer branded companies.
He graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Business Science degree in Finance.
